What is Rain of Yesterday?

Rain of Yesterday is an artist project that explores life's challenges and aspects through musical self-expression. It is the manifestation of one person's wish to create something to hold on to and share with others.
Being more practical, Rain of Yesterday is the musical project of me, Daniil Kruglikov. I am a non-binary artist based in Norway, born in 2002. With my music I wish to motivate people and help them discover something worthwile. SPL\T is my first musical project aimed to that goal, my sprint to the starting line. Further projects will be aimed at the same goal, in their own intriguing unique and inspiring ways.

14.03.25 - SPL\T
SPL\T EP is the conclusion of Rain of Yesterday's first project, an emotional, colorful and unique listening experience. The EP opens with heavier songs such as Lost and Hold Your Breath, before delving into a more post-punk, emotional expression through I'll Never Grow Wings and Do It All For You, and concluding with two highly contrasting synthwave alt-rock tracks, The Worst and Girl. Both the musical expression and thematic meaning throughout the EP vary rapidly, however the entirety of the listening experience remains cohesive and mutually themed; hence the title "SPL\T". The songs, the lyrical message, the author's emotional state are split into radically different components. It is only appropriate for the title to be split into two as well.
The project's backstory is one mostly defined by illness, isolation and exploration. Utilizing a variety different sounds and genres, the EP addresses the different challenges the author has undergone while writing SPL\T. From not knowing their place in life, to holding on, not knowing what's to come next, to accepting that external help will never come to save themselves from their problems, to painfully reminiscing on their past, to taking an unserious approach, believing one's actions are entirely irrelevant, to finally finding peace and acceptance in their state of life; the alt-rock EP delves into the most emotionally charged several years of the authors life and expresses them through unique and memorable melodic mediums.
21.02.25 - Do It All For You
Do It All For You is a dual-themed song, split into relaxing, alt-rock lo-fi verses and heavy, industrial  choruses. This duality aids the song's message, of how unbearably heavy reminiscing about ones past can be, after going through a rough period of life that heavily transforms oneself. Initially inspired by life-altering health complications, the song is intended to speak out to anyone who has gone through a severely difficult life period and remind them of what they're holding on for.
31.01.25 - Hold Your Breath
Hold Your Breath is an emo-pop production addressing harmful and difficult inner conflicts through a lens of relationship issues. The song calls out for the listener to hold on for at least a little bit longer, even when it feels like there's nothing left to hold on to. Additionally, the song is written in a simple manner, as to not over-complicate the message and make for an easier listening experience.
